3. Color Codes - Prismatic Data

Just as a prism splits white light into a spectrum of colors, data visualization transforms complex data into a coherent and understandable series of visuals. In Edge, colors were solely introduced to categorize information at first. Each color signifies connectivity, with closer hues indicating a closer relationship within the same family. Embrace a variety of colors, ensuring consistency, especially in data visualizations where data colors are paramount.

Full Spectrum

Edge data offers a selection of 20 colors for you to choose. While it may be challenging for users to process such a color variety, use more than 7 colors only to indicate proximity rather than exact family matches.

Essential Palette

We don't recommend using more than 7 colors to effectively convey detailed stories. Essential palettes consist of the core 7 colors extracted from the Full Spectrum, facilitating easier comparisons.

Core Palette

Readers expect to extract narratives from data visualizations. These 3 core colors are primarily employed to highlight the most significant elements within these narratives. Simultaneously, these 3 colors resonate the most with Edge's highlight colors.
